Kyle & Tania’s Church Wedding and Sfera Reception Photos

Growing up in west Adelaide, pretty much Tania’s whole family have held their wedding at Christ the King Church on Henley Beach Rd, 15 minutes from Adelaide city. Although Tania initially described it as plain, I really like the photo of the outside view and the inside was not too shabby as well! The lighting is always a challenge in churches, but dealing with this in churches is part the job of a wedding photographer!

Tania & Kyle are pharmacists (side note: I can almost call myself an Adelaide Wedding Photographer specialising in pharmacists – must be something about my style of photography that appeals to the modern pharmacist). But they didn’t meet through their profession, but really quite luckily through online dating – more and more couples are meeting through online channels. They are the sweetest couple and I think this comes through boldly in the photos of their wedding day.

We visited Henley Square for wedding portraits – the spot of Tania & Kyle’s first date, stopped by North Tce in Adelaide, and the reception was held at Sfera’s. Being Italian it wasn’t a small wedding party, but Tania & Kyle were keen to get around to speak with every one of their guests to show their gratitude for helping celebrate. Also being Italian (maybe its only a Calabrese region thing – not sure), the Tarranteglia (please correct my poor Italian spelling if needed!!) was played, but unexpectedly, Kyle was the most enthusiastic dancer. If I wasn’t charged with photographing the reception I would have got up for a jump around too, looked like so much fun!

Taryn & Kalum – McLaren Vale & Ayers House Wedding Adelaide

Taryn was a good primary school friend. A fairly long time ago in the country town that was McLaren Vale. I remember Taryn saying okie dokie! a lot, and her map of all the places she’d been on 4wd trips around Australia. But as we went to different High Schools we lost contact.

Taryn met fellow McLaren Valean Kalum and not too long after they were engaged. Taryn’s dream wedding was always a BBQ in the back yard, wearing a red wedding dress. Taryn and Kalum both not liking the limelight wanted a party to celebrate their union, with a low-key ceremony. It was a really casual, sweet and to-the-point ceremony. And an awesome party that went into the night – eventually the music was cut as Ayer’s House staff threatened to charge extra for staying past 11.30!

Like most of the couples who ask me to photograph their wedding – Taryn and Kalum wanted a lot of natural photos, and this task was made more than achievable by Taryn & Kalum’s, and their family and friends’ laid back attitudes and fun-loving nature. Thank you so much for having me along Taryn & Kalum, you’re a special couple with lovely family and friends. Stay in touch 😀

Tania & Kyle – Wedding Photos and Sfera’s Park Suites & Convention Centre Preview

Tania & Kyle had a Catholic ceremony and their reception at the fairly Italian Sferas – but the wedding really felt much less structured than most Italian weddings. Tania & Kyle are well grounded individuals and they make a really sweet couple with family and friends anyone would feel comfortable in the company of. More moments to follow in the full blog post.

Heysen Trail Part V – Waitpinga to King’s Beach

The far southern coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula is just about the best place to escape the city without having to go far. 45minutes beyond Sellicks Hill lies some beautiful and varied coastline, fields, bush and scrubs.

This leg started at the Waitpinga campground and was fairly easy going. The Waitpinga cliffs are breathtaking – photos can’t do them justice. One day I’d love to hire a boat and eat dinner at the base of the cliffs.

After making it to King’s Beach Aki and I drove back to Waitpinga Beach, and we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves! We made curry on a gas stove and stargazed. Was amazing!

Photos were taken on a D700 with 28mm AI-s f2.8 or 100mm f2.8 macro lens.

Samantha & Tristram’s Clare Valley Bungaree Station Wedding

I’ve said it before, and I still strongly believe it – country people are the nicest people around, and Samantha and Tristram were definitely no exception. They also worked hard to organise their wedding, doing almost everything from scratch – awesome effort! Tristram especially overcame a lot during his preparation; one groomsman was missing his tie, the boutonniere’s were missing the pins and someone accidentally smashed a glass all over the kitchen floor.

There’s something about the Clare Valley that attracts couples who want an enjoyable, authentic wedding. It’s a great place for weddings, and for photography, but it’s also a place where bridal parties and guests alike seem more comfortable to chill out and have a great time.

Omen of Good Fortune for Samantha & Tristram?

I had my gear already packed away in the car ready for the long drive home. This was the last shot of the whole day – after this photo outside the Bungaree Station reception hall in Clare I thanked Samantha and Tristram and wished them a good night.

Just as I took the photo I saw the shooting star fly through the sky in my viewfinder. I thought it had happened too fast to capture, but upon inspection, it was there!

Some things can’t be planned, but when you take enough photos – every now and then – a treasure turns up.

Bungaree Station Wedding

A quick preview for the lovely Samantha & Tristram – who held their wedding 2 hours north of Adelaide at Bungaree Station in the Clare Valley. I love the Clare Valley, but more than the place, the people who choose to hold their wedding in Clare are always a delight to photograph.

The reception was held in a sheep shearing shed! Pretty awesome, and all the rustic country style details were done by Samantha and Tristram – great effort.
